Sacramental Preparation

First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion

This two-year program, following the curriculum from the Diocese of San Diego Office of Schools, provides comprehensive catechesis, helping our students and families understand the significance of each sacrament.  We partner with parents, whom the church calls “the first teachers of the faith.”  Families are invited to attend meetings with the Pastor and Parish Director of Religious Education to receive materials to help them prepare their children for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.

In first grade, students are guided in a year-long study of the Catholic faith.  During second grade, they engage in a concentrated study of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holly Communion. In their second-grade year at All Hallows Academy,  students receive the sacrament of First Reconciliation during the penitential season at a dedicated penance service.  Finally, students receive their First Holy Communion during the Easter season.
